84-year-old Peng Shaojun from Jianshi County of Hubei's Enshi Tujia &
Miao Autonomous Prefecture was telling his stories in the welfare home to
visitors on Dec. 14. The autonomous prefecture has spent three years on a
"lucky star project" to solve difficulties in the life of the elderly in
villages, who are entitled to enjoy "guarantee of food, clothing,
housing, medical care and funeral". 112 rural and private welfare houses
were built in the autonomous prefecture, providing care for 9,767 aged
people. 81.77% of the elderly have benefited from such efforts.
